On Sunday afternoon,
April 25, 2010, at 2pm, Music 4 Living will be holding a student studio recital for all voice & piano youth students (through
high school) studying with Lori Gray Muligano. The recital will be held in the Sage Ballroom,
located on the main floor of the Arts Park.
The recital is expected to last about 1.5
to 2 hours with a brief intermission and will be followed by an informal reception, also held in the Sage ballroom.
On April 25th, vocal students are expected to arrive at 12:45pm for warm-ups and
piano only students arrive by 1:00pm before the recital.
FYI - The doors to the Sage ballroom will be closed until
15 minutes before the recital start time so plan on dropping your student off one hour before, but know that seating in the
Sage will not be available until the doors open at 1:45pm on April 25th.
All students will perform their songs by memory in front of an audience of family, friends & other
students. (Students are expected to invite supportive friends and family to their recital.) Voice students will use a microphone.
Piano students will use the grand piano in the Sage Ballroom. For some students, this will be their
first public performance.
In preparation for this recital, Music 4 Living
will be holding a dress rehearsal on the Sunday afternoon prior to the actual recital date.
The dress rehearsal will be on Sunday April 18th starting at 2:00pm for students and will run until
approximately 5:30pm. All students are expected to attend. Students are encouraged
to wear the shoes they will wear for the recital & bring homework or something to occupy their time when they are not
rehearsing for the dress rehearsal.
There are many reasons for this dress rehearsal.
First, it offers students an opportunity to perform in the room that the recital is held in, in front of the other
students. It also gives students a chance to work with the equipment they will be using for the recital,
including microphones (for vocal students) and the grand piano (for piano students). For voice students,
it gives students a chance to work with their accompanist (Carolyn) who will be there that afternoon. It
is good practice for voice students to get used to different accompanists, as they will find this situation very common in
audition situations.
All songs performed at the dress rehearsal will be performed by
memory so each student must be off-book no later than April 5th.
