Majoring in music with piano as her primary instrument in college, Lori's
own music training includes 20 years of classical piano lessons. Lori has sung since grade school and has
always loved singing harmonies as far back as middle-school. Singing in various choirs and bands is something Lori
has done throughout most of her life. As a college student and in her adult years, Lori has taken voice lessons
from several wonderful voice coaches.
Lori Gray Muligano obtained her BA
in Music from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. She successfully completed her Music Therapy Internship
at Little City Foundation in Palatine, Illinois to complete her music therapy degree. Although she worked primarily
as a music therapist in residential settings in the 1980s, Lori has now expanded her horizons and brought her music therapy
principles and experience to the general population.
Offering
her own unique program, Music SOS (Music for the Stressed Out Soul) is ideal for adults looking for a way to unwind from their
busy lives as this class combines guided imagery, relaxation techniques and light yoga to help soothe tired and worn
out bodies and souls. And for children, Music 4 Kids integrates relaxation techniques in a fun way that children
don't even realize they are learning tension and release concepts, along with fun music and theme-based activities
and singing.
Lori is also a teacher. She
has taught private lessons for many years, whether it was in her own home, in her students' homes or through community
recreation programs. And private teaching wasn't the only way she taught. Back in the 1990s, she directed
a children's choir for six years and loved working with grade school children in a musical realm. Lori currently
teaches beginning voice & intermediate to advanced piano to youth (age 10 through high school) and adults. For the
past several years, Lori has taught piano and voice lessons in her own private teaching studio in Crystal Lake, Illinois, at
the Lakeside Legacy Arts Park attached to the Dole Mansion.
Over six years ago, Lori developed and has been teaching ever since her own special music program
for preschool children (Music 4 Kids). Lori enjoys working with children and loves the opportunity to share
her experience with young people. There's nothing like seeing the smile on the face of a child whose spirit
is allowed to soar.
Whether
it be pop, jazz, classical, rock or blues, Lori loves many different musical genres. She incorporates various
styles of music into her teaching, whether it be in private lessons or her children's music program.
Lori enjoys all aspects of music, whether she is teaching or
performing, writing, playing, singing or incorporating music therapy principles into everyday situations. A writer
of beautiful piano melodies, Lori brings her flowing contemporary piano playing together with her smooth jazz voice.
She loves performing her favorites in her own style, whether they are old standards, more current selections or originals.

"I have known Lori Muligano for one year now. She
has been a dedicated and committed voice instructor for my daughter. She has great compassion for music and teaching.
She has the inate ability to relate to children and their individual needs. This combination of understanding coupled
with realistic/high expectations has motivated my daughter to strive to be her best. My daughters marked improvement
has gained her recognition in school and community theater. It is obvious that with Lori's ongoing motivation, my
daughter continues to enjoy singing and performing. I can only speak highly of the quality instruction and the positive
professional relationship Lori has provided. I would highly recommend her as a voice/music teacher."

"At first I thought that piano and
voice lessons would be terrible, arduous, and just no fun at all. However, she takes the material we cover [dry and
boring at times], and makes it really exciting and enjoyable. Somehow, she finds ways of covering the topics in ways
that are very different. She really connects with her students and incorporates some music theory related to music favored
by them in the lessons. Overall, she really knows her stuff and I actually enjoy going to my lessons!"
