            Student Studio Recital

                       Sunday April 29, 2012 at 2:00pm
                                                  in the Sage Ballroom
                                                                Crystal Lake, Illinois

Music 4 Living holds two student studio recitals a year for all voice & piano youth students (through high school) studying with Lori Gray Muligano.

The Spring 2012 Recital will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 2pm in the Sage Ballroom (the same building where Lori teaches at in the Lakeside Legacy Arts Park attached to the historic Dole Mansion).

Recitals typically last about 90 minutes with a brief intermission and are followed by an informal reception in the Sage Ballroom.

All students perform their songs by memory in front of an audience of family, friends & other students. Voice students use a microphone.  Piano students use the grand piano.  For some students, this is their first public solo performance.  Dress for the recital participants is "Sunday best".

On April 29th, vocal students are expected to arrive at 12:45pm for warm-ups and piano only students arrive by 1:00pm before the recital.

FYI - The doors to the Sage Ballroom will be closed until 15 minutes before the recital start time so plan on dropping your student off one hour beforehand, knowing that seating will not be available until the doors open at 1:45pm on April 29th.

In preparation for this recital, Music 4 Living will be holding a dress rehearsal on the Sunday prior to the actual recital date.  The dress rehearsal will be this April 22nd at 1:00pm for students and will run until approximately 4:30pm.  All students are expected to attend unless previous arrangements have been made.  Students are encouraged to wear the shoes they will wear for the recital & bring homework or something to occupy their time when they are not rehearsing for the dress rehearsal. Because the pianists will be using a grand piano, the pedals are lifted up off the floor so it is imperative that you practice during the dress rehearsal with the shoes you will be wearing for the recital.

There are many reasons for this dress rehearsal.  First, it offers students an opportunity to perform in the room that the recital is held in, in front of the other students.  It also gives students a chance to work with the equipment they will be using for the recital, including microphones (for vocal students) and the grand piano (for piano students).  For all students, it gives them a chance to practice in the space they will be performing in.

All songs performed at the dress rehearsal and recital will be performed by memory so each student should be off book by April 9th. There will be a recital fee for each student.  Please see Lori for details.

IMPORTANT: Each student/family is asked to bring one dessert or appetizer (finger food item) on the day of the recital.  Music 4 Living will provide beverages and paper goods for the short, informal reception to follow the recital.
